MY STORY

How I Came to the Township

I am a lifelong Westerville resident. I grew up across from Otterbein Cemetery and spent much of my youth riding around town on my bicycle. Times were a bit different then, so it wasn't really an issue if I took some money and fed the ducks at Hoover with bread I'd purchased at the Dairy Mart near the corner of Walnut St. I enjoyed dozens of movies over the years in the Glengary Center movie theater - one of my mom's favorite places to take us kids because of the lower ticket prices. During high school I used to drive down Cubbage and East Walnut in the late hours to have some peace and look at the night sky (now not quite as dark as it used to be). In 2003, I began dating Leah (m. 2007) and heard stories about her family's experiences swimming at the Glengarry Pool. We bought our "starter house" in in Huber Ridge in 2014 (once Time Warner took over Insight) and quickly began making connections with the neighbors on our street. We became members of the HRAA because the value they provided the community was easy to identify. In 2016, we left St. Ann's with our daughter (Elie) in tow, turning our starter house into our "home," and became invested in the improvements that had initiated - even attending the demolition of the Hollywood Theater to make way for the brand new standalone ALDI.

The relationships that we struck in the neighborhood have been with some of the most involved members of the community. I have learned about the history of Huber Ridge, the township, the challenges that have occurred over the years, the persistence and dedication of residents, and some of the missed opportunities. While it first seemed that we had "just happened" to make these connections, it is now quite clear that it was ideological alignment around the sense of "community" that drew us to these neighbors. Our family has picked up the legacy these individuals worked to maintain before we arrived. I believe that we have become the stewards of the community that the residents of the deserve. We have lived in the township for just eleven years, but our family has collectively volunteered hundreds of hours of our time to this community in various ways.

MY CAMPAIGN

Civic Activities

  • I attend all "Regular" Board of Trustee meetings and most "Special/Executive Session" meetings, then document "Meeting Notes" and share them to the many social media pages in a concise, easy-to-read, and understandable format.

  • Create "This Week/Month in and Around Blendon Township" posts during peak seasons to suggest and promote local events for residents.

  • Invited our neighbors to spend the evening at our home as hosts for "National Night Out."

  • I operate the 'Blendon Township Residents' Facebook Group, which was created with the goal to to provide the same information across the multiple area community pages and allow resident-only discourse.

  • Placed "No Dumping" placards on community stormwater drains in partnership with the Franklin Soil & Water Conservation District.

  • Removal of invasive plant species in Ridgewood Park with the partnership of Friends of Alum Creek Tributaries (FACT) alongside the Parks Advisory Committee.

  • Contributor of articles for 'The Herald,' a quarterly newsletter distributed by the HRAA.

  • Enjoyed a beverage and conversation at the "Coffee with a Cop" event.

  • Arranged/hosted numerous park/creek clean-up events, hauling hundreds of pounds of refuse, PVC, steel, glass, and more out of the woods and creek at Ridgewood Park.

  • Past participants in 'Blendon Blooms' and have opened our property for the 'Property Excellence Program.'
Our property is also a National Wildlife Federation Certified Natural Habitat.

  • Involved in an air quality monitoring pilot program helping to establish baselines and document changes of particulate matter and VOC's around the industrial facilities on Westerville Rd to better understand the impact on health and overall quality of life in the area.

  • Led a write-in campaign against the 2023 Aqua Water and Waste Water rate increase request - garnering 67 responses from residents to the Public Utility Commission in only 38 days. To read the letter that I supplied to the PUCO to initiate the campaign, click here.
I have also already submitted a letter against the rate increase request Aqua filed in May 2025, you can find that letter by

  • I am an active and involved member of the Zoning Committee.

Why Me?

I believe:

  • that the role of a Trustee is to be a civil servant, to collect your ideas and interests and determine if and how the local government can make it happen. Essentially, being a good steward of your tax dollars and being able to discern the most critical areas of focus.

  • in having open communication with residents and being willing to collaborate with them to address the needs, existing and upcoming, of our community.

  • in true "transparency," and think that the best way to respect you in representing you is to trust you by being honest with you.

  • in doing the work and not merely dictating the work.

My hope is that you also agree with these beliefs.

By engaging with the community and understanding your concerns and goals, I aim to ensure that Blendon Township remains an enviable place to live, work, and thrive.

Why Now?

To put it simply - it is time.

Blendon Township has experienced many challenges in recent years that have been handled quite poorly. It is an appropriate time for the township to undergo a fresh start with new leaders who have shown recent positive investment in the community and who do not have years of connection to these previous contentious events that only bring the township down.

The existing ways are not working. There has clearly been a fundamental breakdown of trust. When presented with opportunity, ideas, and even when members are actively engaging in approved civic projects - current leadership has turned combative rather then collaborative. These blatant takeovers and roadblocks are not a service to the community and are in fact completely unhealthy for it.

We need individuals in leadership who understand the current environment and concerns, who are willing to work with civic-minded individuals in the community instead of against them, and who can collaborate on a vision to propel Blendon Township forward. Residents deserve to be proud of the Township where they live.

Why I Care

Blendon Township has a large and scattered footprint, but one that sits in an incredible pocket of growth in Central Ohio. The township has areas positioned as little as a few minutes from Easton and the Hamilton Rd corridor, fifteen minutes from Polaris and the Arena District, and around twenty to the proposed Intel facility. When I discuss this township with others I commonly point out how convenient it is to so many popular and upcoming areas and how much potential I see. The trajectory here can be bright and full of opportunity - if managed correctly. With tight-knit neighborhoods and a school district that many areas envy, it's a great place to raise a family.

The wide footprint also means that it is a place with a diverse spectrum of ideas and opinions, but I am always proud of the quick support that our community continually and consistently provides - without judgement or hesitation - when a neighbor is in need. Of course, at the most basic level: I'm raising my family here and I want to ensure that this area is set up to be successful for the foreseeable future.

My Career

In my normal "8 to 5" I am a Project Specialist for Process and Performance Improvement. This means that I collect and analyze data to identify trends, collaborate with others to propose improvement solutions, and create training around these discoveries. I assist in determining how our teams can more efficiently add and manage customers within the capital budget and properly forecast future trends. I do this work for teams across six states and two utility industries and have been with the company for seven years.

Prior to my role with my current employer, I was a Commercial Account Manager in the telecom industry for over ten years.

I am committed to utilizing my experience and connected skills to drive positive change and progress in Blendon Township.

I appreciate your consideration of me as a candidate capable of representing your interests. I look forward to serving you for the next four years.

Let's come together to make Blendon Township an even better place to live!
